Keep Gainesville Jazzy

Gainesville’s music scene is unique, with the annual FEST every year we welcome punk and metalheads to overtake downtown for several days, on any given day you can find live bands performing folk and country, and of course, we can’t forget our beloved Tom Petty. Gainesville has been the breeding ground for contemporary musicians as well, including Hundred Waters, Less Than Jake, MSNRA, Flipturn, and The Forum. (http://bit.ly/thealligatorblog)

While all of this music is a part of the beloved Gainesville culture, there’s something quieter, a little less celebrated, but appreciated by all nonetheless – Jazz. In fact, Gainesville’s Jazz scene is so great that you can actually find live performances nearly every day of the week. We’ve rounded up our favorite spots below:

    Downtown Wine and Cheese
    Jazz on the Patio
Saturdays from approximately 8:00 to 10:00?
Though not often advertised, Downtown Wine and Cheese has one of the most picturesque Jazz nights in Gainesville. Get a glass, or bottle, of wine and one of their incredible charcuterie plates, then head to the patio to listen to talented musicians. Last time I attended I had the pleasure of watching an elderly man and his wife swing dance.

    Alpin Beer & Wine
    Live Music
    Wednesdays 7:30 – 9:30
Alpin is the French Bistro that nails the Croque Monsieur, has killer specials, and is the perfect date spot or place to bring a group of friends. Next Wednesday, go through the downtown Farmer’s Market, then try one of their wine cocktails and sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

    The Bull
    Jazzology
    Tuesdays 9:45 – 12:00
The Bull is one of Gainesville’s most underrated gems. Coffee and pastries in the morning, unique selections of beer and wine, and a destination for blossoming artists. Late Night Jazz is their specialty, though we’d go there every day of the week.

    Francesca’s Trattoria
    High Note Jazz Nite
    Wednesdays 6:30 – 9:30
Brunch, Lunch, Dinner, and Jazz. There’s nothing Francesca’s doesn’t do well. Don’t believe us? Check out their reviews on Google (hint: hundreds of 5-star reviews)

    Leonardo’s 706
Hot Club De Ville & Marty Liquori Jazztet
    Mondays & Thursdays (Respectively) 7:00 – 10:00
Leonardos isn’t just a pizza joint, 706 is known for being an incredible date spot and brunch destination. On Mondays and Thursdays, you can take that to another level and see Hot Club De Ville & Marty Liquori Jazztet performing from 7:00 to 10:00.
