Greystone Hills A community of single family homes surrounded by wide open country in Ocala FL

Welcome to Greystone Hills, Ocala, FL’s newest single-family home community. This affordable development is conveniently located off I-75 in Ocala, FL, the 6th fastest-growing and 4th safest town in the country.

Located in the heart of Marion County in Florida’s horse country, Greystone Hills is a planned community anchored by a community pool and cabana. The location gives you access to Ocala’s pristine springs, majestic pine forests, quaint horse farms, and eclectic shops and restaurants of downtown Ocala.

Regional employers in neighboring Gainesville are accessible via I-75. Notable area draws include the renowned World Equestrian Center, training grounds for Kentucky Derby winners, and Silver Springs, Florida’s first tourist attraction.

For your everyday shopping needs, Greystone Hills is equidistant from no less than three Publix supermarkets. For dining, there is a cluster of restaurants — and one beloved gelateria — at the triangle formed by the intersection of State Road 200 and SW 60th Ave.

What Makes Greystone Hills Special

Ocala may be growing fast, but Greystone Hills is surrounded by wide open country under big skies. Initially slated for a total of 248 homes, pricing in Greystone starts in the affordable low 300s range. The price point makes Greystone Hills a great choice for young families.

Greystone Hills is being developed by DR Horton. Open floorplan homes range in size from 1400-3500 square feet and come in two flavors: express and preferred. Express homes are geared toward first-time homebuyers who may have thought buying new wasn’t an option. Preferred homes come with more upscale touches. D.R. Horton leverages their national reach to bring these competitively priced, energy-efficient homes to the Florida market.

Another thing we like about Greystone Hills is that it is a self-contained community, with the cohesion and security that comes with that. What’s more, the development’s compact town plan reduces its environmental impact, and makes for a fairly walkable neighborhood.

La Dolce Vita Gelato & Pastry

This little slice of gelato heaven is family-operated and uses authentically sourced Italian ingredients. And let’s not forget the pastries! Locals rave about the tiramisu and cheesecake.

Hiatus Brewing Company

Hiatus, we’re pleased to report, is no longer on hiatus. This little brewpub is open for business. They brew their beer on site. Recently-tapped beers include New Hop Order, one of the tastiest IPAs we’ve had lately. Their pub fare is finger-licking good. If anyone knows anything about the charmingly dilapidated Florida Vernacular style building next door, leave us a note in the comments. We’d love to learn more.

Ocala Horse Park and Ocala World Equestrian Center

We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention Ocala’s equestrian attractions. After all, the horse shows and training facilities are what put Ocala on the map.

Ocala Horse Park, also known as Florida Horse Park, is a well-maintained facility for horse shows. The World Equestrian Center on the west side of Ocala is the largest of its kind in the U.S. The complex features a spa, a couple of great restaurants, and, during the holiday season, an ice skating rink and gift shop for the kids.

Pro tip: The winter holidays are a great time to visit Ocala Horse Park. The festive and extravagant Ocala Horse Park light show is not to be missed.

Downtown Ocala

Between the wonderfully restored Marion Theater and the 705-seat Reilly Arts Center, home to the Ocala Symphony Orchestra, Ocala’s historic downtown is experiencing a renaissance. Learn more at our Guide to Ocala FL.
