History of the Development
Architectural integrity and natural beauty are the hallmarks of a good planned community, of which Haile can claim both. The planners did an excellent job of guiding the growth of Haile since it broke ground in the late 1970s, at a time when few Florida developers were thinking about fostering urban-style spaces. The architects of Haile built a traditional town center, one building at a time. Forty years later, the Village Center boasts dozens of mixed-use buildings. Haile has been such a success that it has been recognized by Southern Living for exemplary Traditional Neighborhood Development. With the addition of several distinctive communities of single-family estates radiating from the Village Center and Market Square, Haile Plantation now features a total of 2,763 homes and commercial properties.
The proliferation of homeowner’s associations and range of shops and amenities befits a community that has welcomed folks from a variety of income levels and lifestyles. Whether you’re drawn to the pedestrian-friendly village vibe or the gracious suburban ambience of the country club and golf set, there’s something for everyone in Haile Plantation.
Haile residents can rest assured that the community will retain its charms well into the future, as development in the vicinity will proceed according to the smart growth principles laid out by the original architects.
