If fireworks isn't the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear "Fourth of July" then it must be grilling outdoors or you're already planning your day off. As expected, local government always goes big for America's Independence Day with family friendly events throughout the county for all day entertainment. Still don't have a plan to celebrate? No worries, as always we've got your back. Below are the big Fourth of July celebrations in Alachua County. All events are taking place on July 4th, 2017, except for one, read on to find out which!
City of Alachua 4th of July Celebration
14300 NW 146 Terrace, Alachua, Florida, 32615
Held at the Hal Brady Recreation Complex, this celebration has been named the "The Largest Small Town Fireworks Display in America". More than 30,000 people come to the city specifically for this celebration. There will be bounce houses, a spray park, a petting zoo, bingo contests, dancing groups and live musical entertainment. Fireworks begin at 9:30pm and the entire event runs from 3pm-10pm.
706 NE Cholokka Blvd, Micanopy, Florida 32667
At 11am, follow the parade down from SE Tuscawilla Road to the Micanopy Ballpark for food and fun for all ages. Starting at 5:30pm there will a bounce house free for children to enjoy. Bug repellent is highly suggested as the day gets closer to the Annual Fireworks display that begins at dusk.

The fun for this event begins very early with registration for the Big Bass Fishing Tournament starting at 3:30am. The cost to enter is $50.00 per boat. If you'd prefer to stay on land then at 7:00am they are holding a one mile Fun Run and at 8am is their 4th of July 5K. For the non-early birds, vendors, food, crafts, bounce houses, water slides and an antique car show begin at 9am! This year's event is being sponsored by the Lake Butler Rotary Club. Fireworks will go off at dusk!

Every year on Flavet Field, UF holds its very own Independence Day celebration but on July 3rd! The fanfare are the bands, local and regional, that the University of Florida brings to the band shell on the field. Performing this year is Bears and Lions, The Duppies, Hedges and the Gainesville Community Band. LifeSouth will also be hosting a blood drive on site. The hours of the event are 6pm-10pm with fireworks starting at 9:40pm.
Lake Santa Fe Boat Parade
Northeast State Road 26, Melrose, Florida
Anyone interested in participating can decorate their water steed and be at the entrance of the Lake Santa Fe Boat Ramp at 11am. If you're more of a spectator, the docks around the lake are the perfect place for viewing everyone's creativity and beautiful boats. When the red, white and blue boats start to pass by, you can jump in your own vessel and join the parade! The boat parade is a long-standing tradition on Lake Santa Fe.
4th of July Celebration of Lake City

Lake City's celebration of our Independence Day has always been a big hit in the area and the continuous growth in attendance over the years prompted its planners to host at Columbia County Fairgrounds. There's plenty of space for kids to run around, bounce houses, entertainment, and food!
Keystone Heights "Our Country Day"
550 S Lawrence Blvd, Keystone Heights, Florida
This event is limited to 4,000 attendees. It is being held at Keystone Heights Beach Park and 4,000 is the legal limit for entries allowed in the park. The armbands only cost $1 and they will be the only way to enter the park. At 8am, a 5K Marathon will start at City Hall and end at the park. A volleyball tournament will be taking place at 9am. In other parts of the park there will be all sorts of crafts, food and vendors and even a parade. The fireworks will be at 9:30pm and all before then there are live musical acts set to perform.
